The Hurston Yards complex in Cities: Skylines 2 is clearly based on the real Hudson Yards towers, but the way the game renders it makes the whole thing look far worse. The real buildings have bright, reflective glass that gives them a clean and modern look. The in-game version looks darker and heavier instead.
Most of the problem comes from how the game handles glass. It uses a parallax fake interior for the windows, which makes every pane show tiny dark rooms instead of the huge open office spaces you would expect from a skyscraper. Since those fake interiors are usually unlit, they show up as gloomy blocks behind the glass, so the building ends up looking like it is covered in dark concrete instead of reflective panels.

This also kills the reflections. Modern towers rely on bright, shifting reflections of the sky and the city around them, but the game barely shows any unless you look from very specific angles. The windows mostly reveal that dark interior instead of acting like real glass.

Now tell me, am I the only one who finds it ruining the whole experience of having office centers in my city? It's just awful, it looks disgusting, and all the buildings look like the hideous Montparnasse Tower.

Have you seen Hurston Yards (Hudson Yards) in real life? Every skyscraper in this game looks more like the Tour Montparnasse than their real-life counterparts. (text heavy post, complaining)
