Processing my feelings

SPOILERS Shadows Upon Time

Yesterday I finished SUT, making this saga my favorite of all. Tkanks CR for making this incredible books, as someone else said here, I felt this was made for me, it clicked so hard and I will miss this world and this cast of characters.

I loved all of William's appearances in this book, his last conversation with Hadrian, and seeing how he turned his suffering into his greatest strength, seeing how he faced everything almost alone, without having known a love like Hadrian and Valka's, always looking out for humanity, his people.

I don't know why people can't stand Cassandra's character. Personally, I don't find her annoying at all, and I love her relationship with Hadrian, though CR does repeat the same "Don't follow me on this dangerous mission" dynamic a lot. I liked her farewell, although it didn't affect me emotionally as much as I expected.

Something I didn't like as much was that many, almost all, of the characters "die" only to later turn out to be alive; it really took me out of the story.

I feel the beginning was a bit slow, and the ending didn't feel very climactic in some parts. I was hoping we'd see the Night of the Knives and much more of what happened after Hadrian destroyed the sun. Also, the parts where the Monumentals appeared were very confusing.

I loved this book, it wasnt my favourite of the seven, I just feel the ending wasnt that satisfactory as I expected, it definitelly needs to be reread.
