Welcome to r/OldNorthNatives — A Community for True North Carolinians
This is a space created by and for native-born North Carolinians. The purpose of this subreddit is to celebrate the culture and deep-rooted traditions of the Old North State. Whether you're from the mountains of Appalachia, the farmlands of the Piedmont, or the shores of the Outer Banks - of your native-born you're home here.
🎯 What We're About:
This subreddit exists to give lifelong and native-born North Carolinians a place to talk about the state we know and love, without the noise that’s come with the recent influx of out-of-state transplants.
We discuss:
🏛 NC Politics (local and state level)
🏔 Appalachian culture & heritage
🌊 Coastal life & OBX talk
🧑🌾 Rural living, Southern values, blue-collar pride
🥬 Farming, homesteading, land issues
🐗 Hunting, fishing, outdoor life
🗣 Rants, culture talk, and old-school Carolina wisdom
Why We Exist:
Over the years, North Carolina has seen a rapid culture shift — one that often feels forced, artificial, and disconnected from our roots. This is a space to preserve the voice of those who grew up here, who understand the state beyond tourist brochures and political talking points.
This isn't about hate. It's about heritage. This isn't about division. It's about direction. This is for the natives, the locals, the multi-generational Carolinians who want a place that feels like home again.
And also because r/NorthCarolina has become a shithole.
📌 Ground Rules:
Be civil. No harassment or personal attacks — even when venting.
You don’t have to agree with everyone, but you do have to act like a decent human.
If you weren’t born and raised here, this might not be the space for you — and that’s okay.
No spam, no self-promotion unless it’s Carolina-relevant.
Welcome home, Old North Natives. This is our front porch. Pull up a chair and stay awhile.
