What’s the general consensus on supports securing kills in the laning stage?

I have recently, as in can’t play ranked yet recently picked up Dota again after a 10+ year hiatus. Grimstroke has become my ”main” and I try to play him as a pos 4/5. With the warding and harassing it intails.

Stroke of fate is a great ability for getting kills early on which my laning partners would never be able to secure. I have gotten flamed many a time about this now. Carrys saying the I am stealing thier kills. In my mind assist gold is better then no gold right? They can’t dive the tower at level 2, they would die instantly. Or am i missing some big brain play here? Early game respawn timers are so short that they are back by the next creep wave anyway giving them a new shot at killing the enemy.

Is it just carry players needing their name in the kill feed soo bad or am I the one being the baddy?
