Amorim on Mainoo, mentality and Wolves - BBC Sport

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been speaking to the media before Monday's Premier League game against Wolves at Molineux (kick-off 20:00 GMT).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

When asked if Matthijs de Ligt and Diogo Dalot would be fit, Amorim said: "I think so. We will see."

On Kobbie Mainoo's frustration: "I see it. I just want to win. I don't look who it is, I don't care about that - I just try to put the best players on the pitch. You have [Manuel] Ugarte that played two games. One of them, Casemiro was out. Bruno [Fernandes] is always fit- he's the guy that is playing in his position so maybe it has [something] to do with that."

Amorim was asked if the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) would give Mainoo a run in the team: "I don't know what is going to happen. It depends. If I see in training that this is the best thing, I will put him in."

He finished by saying: "I understand what you are saying. You love Kobbie. He starts for England, but that doesn't mean I need to put Kobbie [in the team] when I feel I shouldn't put Kobbie [in the team]."

On whether his players have the mentality to get in the top five: "It's a clear fact but I think it's not a mental thing. I think they are not thinking [about whether] we are going to get in the top five. Sometimes we play good, sometimes we play bad and we are not getting the results."

When asked about the January transfer window, he said: "We need to wait until January. We need to see what we are able to do, so I don't know and I really don't care about that in this moment, I just want to prepare for the next game with the players that we have. We have to be better in the next game."

On when players will be leaving for Afcon: "We are dealing with everything. They [Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui] are going to play the next game and that is the only thing I care [about]."

On Wolves and their poor form: "Everything can happen and that will change. There is no team in the history of the Premier League that didn't win one game. It can be any game. So we need to try to improve, rest the players, work really well and prepare for a tough match - because with us, it's always a tough match."
