how to politely tell my roommate im breaking lease

Roommates

were on a joint lease and im relieved of paying rent so as long as one of us finds a replacement to sign on before move out.

ive had some circumstances in my personal life that popped up recently that warrant my move though theyre not the main reasons ive made this decision.

the place is very lived in, everything in the common spaces are my roommate’s and theres little to no space for me to put anything anywhere including cutlery and dry food as shelves and counters are chock full. i thought maybe half of what i was seeing belonged to a previous roommate of hers but my assumption turned out to be wrong. as i understand it shes lived there for several years and its not something anyone could understandably declutter.

it never crossed my mind that the layout of the apartment was also not great for privacy. the only part that feels like mine is my own room and even then i rarely come by a moment where im by myself in the apartment. she framed her day to day life differently before i moved in because she stays home when i get back or maybe all day; again not necessarily her fault and not something anyone would be open to changing though i wish there was more transparency about this. i havent felt comfortable enough to do weekly monthly cleanings or take out the trashes let alone spend any amount of time in the common areas which is inconsiderate and lazy of me.

anyways im not sure if i should bring this up or just stick with the nothing-to-do-with-you ones. we’re in a HCOL area and it might be difficult for me her to find a suitable replacement on short notice on top of having to clean the place up.
