Hopeless and looking for help
Hey everyone. I’m 33f. No kids. Based in aus. Work full time.
I have been assessed for ADHD twice, 2 years apart but not formally diagnosed. Both times the results came back ‘elevated’, the second time much more than the first. My therapist has given me a referral letter to take to a psychiatrist. The next step from there is a formal diagnosis and meds.
My ‘symptoms’ are getting worse and worse and I’m more scatty, forgetful and inattentive than ever before. I get so pissed off with myself (internally) and feel so hopeless knowing I have to live with this for the rest of my life. My work, my 8 year career, is really starting to suffer and I’ve always loved to work, it’s always been kind of an escape from my reality.
I think back to myself as a young girl or younger woman and wonder how I ever coped. Now I know what I have, it’s impossible to ignore it.
My partner of 11 years has told me he is really concerned about me and says that things definitely seem to be getting worse for me. Which is validating I guess
I’m posting on here to vent but I’m also seeking advice or wise words. What are meds like for you? What coping mechanisms do you use? Organisation tips? Did you find your symptoms got worse with age?
Thanks x
