So after having watched the FNAF2 movie...

I actually really enjoyed it as in many respects mostly in terms of spectacle, intrigue atmosphere and horror I think it excels. By far my favourite part of the movie is of course the Marionette and we really get a first hand look at why it is so terrifying as well as one of the most significant events in the series regarding Charlie. I think the MVP of the movie though was actually Vanessa as I feel she had prominent development to the point even I felt sorry for the kind of things she went through as it never seems like she wants to indulge herself in her family's madness but can't escape it and her nightmare sequences are wonderfully done.

With that in mind, I have to say what I think was genuinely the most underwhelming part of the movie...

Michael.

I should note before hand I have no issue with Michael being an antagonist but given the bar established by William in the last movie and the Marionette in this one I was hoping they'd bring something special to really make such a prominent character in the series stand out. Unfortunately though I never really feels like we get that as from the moment he's introduced he comes across as a massive slime ball and is quickly sent packing by the puppet and even at the movies climax he gets knocked on his ass which while cathartic I think makes him come across as weak sauce. It really feels like his inclusion in this movie was solely to have a twist villain, but I think it would've been more menacing if rather than come across as the most unsubtle villain seen so far, he was pulling the strings remotely by luring the kids to the Pizza location without needing to show up there himself then in the third movie it'd be a huge reveal that he was doing it all as set-up for... whatever the third movie wants to do.

In regards to everything else I like Mike and Abby but it really felt like more of the first movie as far as they were concerned, they're family but we don't get more exploration of back story or what happened to Mikes brother whom I'm going to assume is CC at this stage. In regards to the other animatronics it was awesome seeing them but it also felt weird that they said they're going to leave without really much, if any explanation after they wipe the floor Toy Animatronics.

Of course this is all in service of setting up the big prize entry with the third where I assume all our main cast are going to be showing up for a face-off with what I'm assuming will borrow elements from not just 3 but 4, 5 and especially 6. I am hyped for that and I did enjoy this one and I hope others do too.
