Is bad short term memory and recall an indicator of low intelligence?

I have horrible memory and recall. It’s mortifying..this man i’m seeing will be shocked that i don’t remember that he told me about something or a complex subject…I however am inquisitive about dense theoretical arguments and enjoy reading and thinking abstractly. So, I feel I’m not stupid….but now I’m questioning if my IQ might be lower than I assumed due to my recall ineptitude.
