Life shattered by wrong accusation
About a year ago, I was supposed to take the final exam of my law degree. I had worked so hard to get to that point—it was supposed to be the end of a long chapter in my life. But the day before the exam, I suddenly found out that a woman had falsely accused me of rape. Even though the accusation wasn’t true, my whole world collapsed in that moment. I was overwhelmed with shock, fear, and shame, even though I had done nothing wrong. I still went to the exam the next day, but I couldn’t focus at all and ended up failing by just one point.
I informed my university about everything, and fortunately, they allowed me to resit the exam later on. I thought I could pull myself together and restart, but then the next blow came: in March, I suffered a herniated disc. That completely threw me off physically and mentally. After that, my drinking got worse and worse. I kept trying to handle everything by myself—and I just kept sinking deeper.
Now, I’m finally in a detox clinic. It was a really difficult step, but also a necessary one. I want to get my life back, piece by piece. My goal is to retake the exam in June 2026 and finally finish my studies. I want to become the person I used to be—or maybe someone better, someone stronger.
I’m posting here because I often feel so alone with all of this. If anyone has advice, personal experiences, or just a few words on how to keep going during moments like these, it would mean a lot to me. I really want to stay sober and rebuild what has been broken.
Thank you to everyone who reads this.
