2 weeks post op arm lift and my arms look awful! Help!

Hi guys! I’d really appreciate any help or reassurances here.

I had a brachioplasty (arm lift) with lipo, and a breast lift, 16 days ago. I have lost 60kg from my highest (recorded) weight and was left with a lot of loose skin on my arms. My arms pre op weren’t super slim but not big either at all, except that the large amounts of excess skin would take up space in clothes etc. And obviously hang down when I put my arms out.

Now, I KNOW that there’s swelling to be expected with any surgery, and that everyone advises to wait until at least 6 weeks to judge the outcomes of any cosmetic surgery, including an arm lift. There was initially a lot of swelling all over my body immediately post op, and I’m still quite swollen in areas like my stomach but less so in my arms and breasts now. My issue is that my upper arms feel even bigger than they started (minus the excess skin), but don’t feel THAT swollen so I’m worried they will stay like this. I’m also worried that if they don’t stay this big there’ll still be drooping skin because of how much bigger they feel now than my arms felt before surgery.

Also, there is some skin gathering along the incision, which my surgeon assures me is normal and will smooth out as the skin heals, but it’s just really hard for me to imagine this happening at this point!

Again, I know the advice is to wait until at least 6 weeks (- 3 months) to see your results, and I obviously will do this, but if anyone has any stories of their own recovery and feeling the same way and it eventually resolving itself, that would really put my mind at ease for now. All the before and afters you see are always like 6 weeks - 3 months after the operation (for good reason I know!), but none ever show the “during” recovery of like 1/2/3 weeks post op.

I’d just really like to know that others had these same concerns and then were very happy with their results. I know there are many on this subreddit who have opted to remove loose skin, so I’m hoping to find someone who can relate!

Thanks so much!
