I might want to use Graphene OS, but I live in France; is that a good choice?

Hello, I would very much like to protect my privacy more, but given what is happening in France, I don't know if it's a good idea. And also, will it work like a regular Android? Is installing Graphene OS a good idea because I live in France, so I don't really know if I should? Thank you for the answers.
