Anyone have no friends in their mid/late 20s?

Relationships/Family/Children

My previous friends at my hometown gradually isolated me after one “friend” spread serious rumors and triangulated people. As a result, people have a huge misunderstanding, cut me off, chose her over me, and I became a social outcast. I can’t clear up misunderstandings with these people either because they’re already biased and lean towards her.

I haven’t had any true friends now that I think about it - all through elementary, middle, high school and even through college. I get bullied a lot, and people who portray themselves to be my friends end up being my bullies.

I feel like giving up on the idea of ever having friends or any relationship. People are already biased if they see you don’t have friends or any social network/support system.

I’m just tired of being told “if you do _, then it will all work out”. It doesn’t. I also don’t interact with people having that expectation.

I just wish I had people in my life who actually give a damn and are true friends. Life is so much more bearable and worth living when you are surrounded by people who love and care about you.

And it sucks constantly being the “friend” people discard, use, bully, play mind games with, etc. And I don’t think that’s going to change for me. I think I’m probably going to live my life alone, and die alone.

Oh, and seeing the people who harmed me be happy and thriving ticks me off. Seeing people actively choose those who harmed me (physically, emotionally, mentally) hurts. I never got that kind of support and “forgiveness” from anyone; if I made simple mistakes - the crime of being awkward and a social outcast - I get heavily penalized.
