For some reason, despite having watched it multiple times now, I never noticed that in episode one, Catherine is standing close by when Jo comes up to Jesse and tugs on his arm. Of course in context they're friends goofing around and she was dragging him over to talk to Mia, but I got to thinking given Catherine likely would have only seen part of the interaction, this could be one reason she thought Jade's story about Jo following Jesse around all the time and having had a fight with him about the drum was possibly true.

She knows Jo isn't like that, but they'd been growing distant, and she would have seen this little interaction where Jesse did actually seem temporarily annoyed by her. This gives some weight to Jade's lie. And that's one thing I love about Mirror Mirror: it really feels like the writers thought out the details of the plot carefully. I still notice different things every time I rewatch.

There's another Australian show I enjoyed when I was younger that I started rewatching and honestly even though it's good, I do find myself wondering *why* certain characters would believe other ones or jump to certain conclusions from a logical standpoint not just because the plot happens to require a misunderstanding. I like that Mirror Mirror had little details to answer that question in the case of their own characters' growth and actions.

An interesting detail I completely missed until my most recent rewatch of episode 1.
