I spent about a year learning to crochet on my own, intermittently. Yesterday I bought a kit and finally understood the basics of crocheting, and all the simple stitches.

English is my second language, and I am completely unlucky to have instructions in different languages without having my native language. Even more unlucky, having pictures only for Stitches and Magic Ring. Everything else is in text format, which I only half understand how to crochet. 

I tried to find a YouTube video with my kit or a similar one, but they all look different. I wanted to crochet a foal for my boyfriend, and many people start crocheting from the hooves, while mine starting from the neck. And the patterns there are different everywhere. I used YouTube to understand how to crochet basic stitches, But some points are completely unclear to me.

Please spend a little time to help me somehow. 

I have difficulties at R4-R5, as well as when finishing the neck and moving onto the body. I don’t know how the ring is made at this stage and for some reason it seems to me that I did it incorrectly from the very beginning. I think if I understand at least this beginning, then I won’t have any problems with the rest.
