What was Phil thinking looking at the picture of Johnny Sack

This was when Phil got out of the hospital and was at a party with other guys New York.

Right before Doc Santoro says hi to him he looks at the picture of John and looks sad or maybe angry.

What do you guys think he was thinking about in this scene. I think when he was surrounded by these background New York characters, he missed Johnny sack and that era of the mob.
