(joystick gremlin) Game lets me map stick inputs, but doesn't show any movement on the axes when I try to set up curves or fly

Idk if I'm able to describe this properly but I've got this really weird problem. I got a new stick, set it and my throttle up in joystick gremlin, confirmed that the virtual device is working as expected in the software. I went in game, mapped my axes, but when I try a quick start, nothing happens when I move the stick.

I looked at the settings panel again where you can set sensitivity and stuff, and the indicator there is completely static.

I used joystick gremlin with my previous stick and it worked just fine in IL2. I haven't tried any other games yet with the new stick.

Can anyone help me with this?
