Am I the only one who rarely, if ever, finishes books/shows/video games?
I got diagnosed with ADHD last year, and it’s helped me contextualize a lot of the weird shit I do. I have this lifelong issue with rarely finishing a story that I’m in the middle of, even if it’s amazing and I’m really, really enjoying it. Part of it is that I get a big emotional rush and subsequent dopamine drop from things ending (including things like hangouts and parties) because I’m never going to be able to experience it again; part of it is that I get distracted by other things and lose that spark. So now I’ve never watched the last season of my favorite TV show of all time, I’ve never played the final chapters of one of my favorite video games ever, and my friends are always yapping at me to finish things that I started. I end up straight-up lying to people about what I thought of the endings of certain things because I never even went through with finishing it. Anyone else have experience with this, or have any tips to help me get out of it? I would love to get over it and fully enjoy the things I love, but I have this giant mental block keeping me from doing it for some reason? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
