Luxury pools/gyms that are worth it?

I’m looking for somewhere Sheffield/chesterfield/rotherham for a warm spa like pool and sauna/steam room and ideally a small gym.

I was going to ask for a a membership for Christmas and nearly took the plunge for the mecure hotel spa in Sheffield centre but recent trip advisor reviews are awful for it.

Then started looking at virgin active and Google reviews for that aren’t much better!

I was leaning to the mercure due to the pool seeming more relaxing, warm, cosy and the whole place smaller and hopefully less daunting. Although the childcare at virgin active would have been a bonus!

Anyone been to these recently and have thoughts? Or anywhere else would you recommend?

Bonus if kids can go and weekends would be the main time I went.
