I’ve seen a lot of owners dealing with the classic supercharger rattle on Jaguar and Range Rover models, especially on the 3.0 and 5.0 engines. Most people get told they need a whole new supercharger, which is crazy expensive — but the real culprit is usually much simpler.
The small video below shows a bus coupler replacement inside the supercharger drive. The original part has a spring-loaded design that wears out over time, causing free play and that metallic rattling sound at idle or low RPM.
The replacement part in the video is an aftermarket coupler made from solid high-grade composite plastic (blue color) with no internal spring. Because there’s no spring to fatigue or break, it eliminates the free play permanently. That means:
- No more rattle at startup or idle
- No need to replace the entire supercharger
- One-time fix instead of repeating the same repair every few years
- Huge cost saving vs. the OEM repair route
It’s basically a lifetime solution for a problem that normally gets misdiagnosed or overpriced.
Anyone here tried this fix on their Jag or RR? How long did it last for you, and did it completely kill the rattle?
