Is this illegal? How to cover my butt

Im making an episode about cult psychology, and part of it is interviewing ex cult members. If the group fits the definition of a cult and the BITE model, it’s fair game.

However, one of these would be a major religious organization. I don’t want to censor their quotes. They are simply telling the facts of their experience. I will not be sensational about this either out of respect for victims.

How do I cover myself legally? Is this illegal or slander? This is what I was thinking of including:

The purpose of these interviews is to tell our guests experience, so long as the organization meets the psychological and social criterion of a cult based on the guests experience and any research done (these criterion would have been explained earlier in the episode).

I don’t really know what’s legal or not. Hoping for some guidance.
