🇨🇦➡️🇺🇸 Moving to USA on L-1A from Canada (Toronto) - Port of Entry Process Questions!

Hello,

I'm a Canadian citizen preparing to move to the US on an L-1A (Intracompany Transferee Executive/Manager) visa, and I will be applying directly at a Port of Entry (POE) as is typical for Canadians. I'm based in Toronto and looking for recent experiences, particularly from those who have recently gone through the process. My main questions revolve around the on-arrival adjudication process and logistics: 🛫 Road vs. Air Travel (Toronto POEs) • For those traveling from the Toronto area, did you apply at an airport (like YYZ Pre-Clearance) or a land crossing (e.g., Lewiston-Queenston, Peace Bridge)? • Which POE do you recommend for L-1A/L-1 processing, and why? Is one generally faster or less scrutinized than the other? • If you went by air, how much extra time did you allocate for the CBP pre-clearance process on your travel day? ⏱️ L-1A Interview and Processing Time • Since the interview is conducted on arrival by a CBP officer, what was the total time spent in secondary inspection for the adjudication? (E.g., 2 hours, 4 hours, etc.) • Did you have a scheduled appointment, or is it purely "walk-in" (first-come, first-served) at the POE/pre-clearance facility? • What was the nature of the interview? Was it a quick verification, or a detailed review of the U.S. and Canadian entities and your managerial/executive duties? 💼 Documentation and "Good to Know" • Apart from the I-129 petition (or I-129S for a blanket) and supporting evidence, was there any one document you felt was the most important or scrutinized? • Any "good to know" tips specific to a Canadian L-1A applicant applying at the border? • What method of payment did you use for the fees ($460 I-129 fee + $500 Fraud Fee + $6 Land/Sea fee, if applicable)? Were credit cards accepted easily? Any recent experience (especially from the last 12-18 months) and advice would be greatly appreciated as I finalize my application package and travel plans!

Thanks in advance!
