Question about lorazepram impacts at this stage in hospice

My father is on hospice for declining due to Parkinsonism and other disease. He needs assistance with all movement (bathroom, transfers, etc) but is still eating/drinking. He struggles to communicate but is still relatively there. Sorta like a dementia patient cognitively due to a TBI from a fall.

He uses his phone like crazy and I am never able to disconnect when away from him. The texts and calls are about random things throughout the day, not emergencies. I desperately need to be able to disconnect for a bit. I've been caring for him through out this decline of 6 years and I'm burned out. He's been on hospice 3 months now and is declining extremely slowly.

The hospice nurse suggested Lorazepam throughout the day and I'm wondering what effect that might have? Has anyone been in a similar situation and if so how did you handle it?

I am an only child.
