Housing Crisis ==> Ownership Crisis
Madison has a big push to build housing units which seems like a pretty good thing to me. I like the idea that more units creates density which will help bring down costs or at least level them off. Everyone should have somewhere to live. Madison is a growing city. All of this seems great.
But I have been wondering if the housing crisis will turn into an ownership crisis in the future because it seems like the bulk of the units are rentals like big apartment buildings. I have no data on this at all, just what it seems like driving around the city.
What do you all think? Love reading people’s opinions and happy to be set straight with a source.
