I can't be objective when it comes to rating games.

Recently I was told by a friend that I kept saying that a game is "my favorite game of alltime" about multiple different games throughout the years. I have always been aware of this as there are multiple games that I love which I can't choose from. So I'll usually name one most relevant to the conversation. i.e. recently said that Final Fantasy VI was my favorite game ever to a group of mutual friends and the reason I specifically picked that one was because said friends were mostly people who only played JRPG's.

So that got me into thinking, what if I were to sit down and make a Top10 list but have reasonable explanations as to why each game made it into the top10. I always had a general idea what my top10 would be like but I never actually had to think about why or how a game would enter the list, what the criteria for that would be.

And once I made the list I came to the realization that all the games that I valued that much I did only because they were tied to a very specific core memory of mine. I wasn't properly critiquing them or evaluating them based on gameplay elements or story beats and all the important stuff. No. A game would make it only into my top10 if I could recall every single detail about the first time I played them, remember every single bit and piece of my personal life during the period I played through a game.

Are there any other people that rate games similar to how I do?
