Thoughts on yapper authors?

We all love a good long comment from commenters, especially if it’s related to the fic, but what about authors replying to long comments with long comments too?

Or not even just long comments, just replying to questions or discussing in the comments?

What’s it like being on the receiving end when being replied to an author, especially a long one?

Side note: what’s yall’s thoughts on long chapter end notes?
