Couldn't Gawian still have a female love interest?

I know making her sexuality a curse was tone deaf and made no sense based on the reason given. With that said couldn't she still have a female love interest? I feel like Balin wouldn't end up with her because he feels more like a big brother.

I'm not a member of the LGBTQ community so I'm not advocating for anything but from a narrative standpoint it would make sense wouldn't it?.
