I noticed this about Smosh…

Constructive & Respectful Criticism

It feels like there’s this weird over-censorship vibe around their content.

Most of their newer videos avoid addressing any kind of internet drama or controversial topics. Even SmoshMouth which I thought would be their space to unpack online discourse the way they once talked about things like the Try Guys/Ned Fulmer situation, now feels oddly sanitized. They only touch drama when it’s “safe” or mainstream enough that nobody will be upset about it.

I honestly think it would be really refreshing if Amanda and Shayne actually leaned into discussing internet drama ....... old, new, weird, niche, everything. They’re smart, funny, and have the personality for it. But instead, the topics they pick often feel outdated by the time they talk about them, like they’re intentionally avoiding anything that might bring even mild criticism their way.

It doesn’t ruin the content, but it does make it feel less authentic and way more cautious than it used to. I miss when Smosh wasn’t afraid to be a little chaotic or messy with cultural commentary.
