Didn't care for the new Harry Wild special or any of the US plots

I didn't like the central mystery of the special, which was teased at the end of season 4. The FBI and assassin plot was completely ridiculous and I just couldn't ignore it. Also, the FBI kidnapped 2 people off the street in Ireland and Fergus and Harry just didn't say anything because the FBI agent (in Ireland) just said "your son is a cop you know the drill..."?? Just preposterous. If the show continues I really hope they get back to the cosy, quirky, and interesting mysteries that made the show a hit.

Also, all of the plot centered on the US is just bad. Lola got an acceptance letter to Georgetown and within weeks she's flying there? That is just not how it works. I also don't know why they are acting like Georgetown is better than Trinity, I looked up the international rankings of both places and Trinity/s ranking is actually much higher than Georgetown. There could be lots of reasons why a young person may not want to study abroad for years, not just a boyfriend. I didn't like the way show dealt with that entire plot--Lola deserved better as did all of the characters. There were ways to have Lola leave for school that were logical and not just "damsel wants to stay for boyfriend, who makes the hard sacrifice for her."
