Work Place Discrimination?
Location: Virginia
Is this grounds for an investigation and or more?
I believe I’m being racially discriminated against, because of workload, and opportunity.
With my wages time and time again I’ve been short changed, although I’ve showed the aptitude, and have displayed beyond proficiency compared to my peers. And this is not what made me have this thought.
Ive been constantly tasked heavier, dirtier workloads than the other people I’ve worked with. For years now on the same project. Time and time again completing task after task, high above the industry standard.
I was hoping after enough time doing the shitty work eventually my time to shine would come, I’d also be given the same opportunity at the more technical work.
Now I would understand if there were people more senior than me doing it and there just wasn’t enough of the work to go around. But they had the same couple guys doing it the whole time.
The only reason I can come up with, because I myself cannot find any other reason, as I’ve done more than all (literally). Is I’m Hispanic and the other guys all have blonde hair and blue eyes.
Time and time again while I’m rushed to get things done, I come back dirty and sweaty, and I always see the same guys clean, laughing, and noting that I’m always dirty.
They have less work experience than me and time in the industry, yet put into better easier positions than me at work.
Now the kicker is I’m being tasked with going behind them and fixing their fuck ups when I’ve begged the whole time to do it in the first place as I’ve said time and time again they fuck everything up they touch. Yet they continuously kept get the same tasks.
I literally cannot wrap my head around why after proving I’ll do anything right the first time, and them constantly ruining things, I wasn’t getting chosen besides how I look, and who I am.
This is the first time in my life I’ve ever felt discriminated against, as I’ve always seen myself as American first. But it’s been an exhausting experience and I can’t make sense of it. There are many others at work who feel the same way as there is something weird going on.
What can I do?
Ideally I’d like to sue, and hopefully encourage others to do the same as I wasn’t the only one who got the shit end of this stick. I love my job and what I do, but not at the cost of my physical health, especially when not everyone’s eating the same shit sandwhich, and the only difference in qualification that I can see, is the color of everyone’s skin.
