(Most of this is my opinion, obviously, but I feel like a lot of people have been saying similar ish things)

Ok, first off I absolutely LOVED the Marionette in the film. As a Charlie fan who was worried about how much screen time she might get, it was fantastic. Genuine force of nature. Huge threat, loved her interactions with Vanessa, perfect amount of cunning but impulsive. I loved her in the movie.

That being said, at the same time, while she was cool asf, Charlie’s actually game counterpart was not done justice at all.

The movie has a fantastic cold open that vastly changed Charlie’s death from her game one, involving her dying to save a boy who she presumably didn’t even know.

God, what an amazing intro to her character! Such a great way or foreshadowing how she’s the protector of the other missing children.

Except… Charlie doesn’t interact with the MC a single time in the movie. Not even once, they aren’t even brought up in conversation with each other. This, alongside Charlie’s inconsistent motives and the fact that she’s doing all this out of her own free will rather than being tricked, influenced, or misguided, kinda screws with her character.

The MC also move on in this movie, so we probably won’t ever get a film adaptation of it, either :(.

I’m not saying she shouldn’t have been a villain: she ABSOLUTELY should have been. She was a solid antagonist, like I said earlier, but she was NOT a good adaptation of “if Charlie was the antagonist”. Just because she’s protecting the other MC doesn’t mean she can’t be evil! Think of how awesome it would be if Charlie’s motives had something to do with the Missing Children! Ex, maybe she’s targeting Mike, Abby, and Vanessa specifically since she blames them for the MC’s appearance at the beginning of the movie. Maybe she’s doing all this in an attempt to find them. Neither of these are perfect fixes, just quick ideas I had, but you see where I’m going with it, right?

(Having her interact with/mention the MC would also fix the issue of the animatronics suddenly turning up at the end out of nowhere and make it seem a bit more natural that they move on in this film)

Funnily enough, her game death would have worked better here, since it shows Charlie being a victim of pure circumstance rather than being killed because she sacrificed herself for someone.

And yes, Charlie is NOT a saint in game either, far from it! But my point is, while her actions could be read as somewhat selfish, every other iteration of her had some level of selflessness, like putting herself in danger so that other innocent people would stop being killed in Twisted Ones and, of course, her role to the Missing kids in game. It’s just such an important aspect of her character, it’s literally her whole schtick, and I’m pretty disappointed that the movies didn’t touch up on its potential.

I know this sounds really negative so again I Reiterate: I LOVED HER IN THE MOVIE!! SHE WAS SO COOL! BUT SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER 😭

mini rant about fnaf movie Charlie: (HUGE spoilers ahead!)
