Hey everyone

I just bought a PS5 Pro and noticed something really odd. The console isn’t loud all the time but when a game is running it starts making a weird sound that’s much louder than anything my PS5 Slim ever produced. I use it in a small room so the noise bounces back even more and it gets really annoying. You can hear it in the video too, though in person it’s even clearer.

I’ve been looking into this all day and it seems the Delta fan is usually louder. My unit has the Delta version since it has the three small lines on it. I’m still not sure if what I’m hearing is coil whine or just the fan on this model, and I don’t really understand why the fan type would matter if it’s coil whine.

Anyone with a PS5 Pro please tell me if your console makes a similar sound during gameplay or if yours is much quieter. Also let me know which fan you have, Delta or Foxconn, because I’m trying to figure out if this comes down to fan variation. I’ve seen people say their units make no weird noise at all so maybe replacing mine could help. For this price I really don’t want to keep a console that sounds like this.

In the video the first half is the game running while I’m in the main menu. Around the middle I jump back into the actual gameplay and that’s where the noise I’m talking about becomes easy to hear.

Thanks for any help or experiences.

Bought a PS5 Pro and it makes a strange loud noise during gameplay. Is this coil whine or just the fan?
