Being disabled is not for the weak (trigger warning: childhood sexual abuse ⚠️)

I gotta live with a family who betrayed me. I have to rely on them to help me, despite everything they did to me. I literally suffer from severe OCD as a result of my mom knowingly dating a predator. Not to mention, I have autism and ADHD which make it hard to function.

He lied and said his victim was 16 years old, he was in love with her, and that he went to prison for it. He said he felt guilty and that story was enough for mom to say it was "forgivable" and made my entire family hide his past from me and my older siblings.

Sure, the cops also said he'd probably never do it again, but she decided that his story was forgivable even before speaking to any authorities. She decided it was worth it to date a man who admitted that he was an adult who had a sexual relationship with a teenager. She didn't even maybe think he was 18 or 19, she knew he was a GROWN MAN and doing this.

I ended up being his next victim and I don't think I have the heart to forgive my mom for that. Not to mention, she featured my trauma in a book that she published less than 2 years after my abuse ended. She changed the names of the characters and a few other details, but it was based on real life.

She asked for my permission to include my story, but I was literally 12 years old and JUST stopped being abused when she asked this. I saw trauma while she saw an opportunity to write a book portraying herself as a struggling single mom who supports her kids through thick and thin.

Knowingly brought a predator in the home and made money from my trauma, but I have no choice but to rely on her unless I can eventually get into a cheap housing unit and have social workers.

And I'm seen as the asshole for not forgiving her because she "feels guilty." I developed severe synptoms of OCD during my abuse and I didn't get a proper diagnosis until I resorted to living in a homeless shelter at 19. I'm back home now (I pay rent from welfare) but it hurts.
