Itinerary Advice: Tasmania, Perth, Cairns or East Coast/NSW
Hi all,
I'll be travelling from Germany to Australia next January and am currently planning my itinerary. So far I have planned out:
- Arrive at Melbourne - 3 days
- Great Ocean Road with rental car- 3 days
- 1 open day
- Uluru - 3 days guided tour (+1 extra day potentially)
- 5 to 7 open days
- 6 days Sydney and Blue Mountains
For the week before going to Sydney, I am looking at a couple of options:
- Tasmania
- Perth
- Cairns
- East Coast (e.g. road trip Brisbane to Sydney)
Here, I'd like the focus to be on nature and wildlife, ideally at a relatively relaxed pace. In terms of climate, I think Tasmania would suit me best (I fear I'll melt in Cairns). On the other hand, it looks the most similar to european landscapes out of all those destinations, so I am a little torn. Maybe something more "quintessential australian" would be better.
So yeah, happy to hear any thoughts or suggestions, also on the itinerary in general.
