I feel like I have genuinely started hating my sister.
I (16) have an elder sister (19), and I feel like I have started to hate her. For as long as I remember and from what people have told me, we have always had a good relationship.
I can't live without her. I am very close to my sister. She knows everything about me. I love her the most in my family, and she spoils me a lot, and she's one of the two persons who completely understands me and someone I can tell everything to.
But lately I feel like I've really begun to hate her. And I don't even know if my feelings are justified because I keep feeling like I am just spoiled or bratty.
We share a room. She never helps clean; it's mostly her mess (her books, make-up, accessories, clothes.) My only mess is clothes. She never cleans the bathroom. In fact, she never helps around the house. She only has two things: to put clothes in the washing machine and to hang them to dry.
I clean the bedroom and the bathroom. And I also help with house chores. Whenever my parents need help with anything, I have to do it. She never helps; she is always busy with "studies," or something is always aching, or she is always tired. (She gets home a lot before me from college.) No matter how tired I am, I have to help.
She has all the time to solve her friends' problems, help them, and talk with them. She is constantly on the phone with her friends or boyfriend, and she always talks on speaker as well, and I hate it because she doesn’t move somewhere else either. It'd be 12 AM, and she would be talking to someone or watching a show right beside me on high (not full) volume. I always wear earphones around the home; I never disturb her, yet if for once my earphones are charging and I watch something even on low, she gets pissed.
If we are ever arguing about something and I am in the right, she never apologizes or does anything to change it. Just keeps making a face I feel like punching.
She ALWAYS has time for her friends and boyfriend, no matter where we are. She's constantly chatting, talking to them, or watching a show on her phone.
I've been wanting to watch this one movie that both of us have been wanting to watch for a really long time. It's not available on any entertainment apps except for YouTube on rent.
But whenever I ask her when we will watch it, she always keeps saying later. And, she is not even busy; she says we will watch it once she's done with "just these three episodes" of the show she is watching.
If I am tired or need her help with anything, she never helps, does it half-heartedly, or simply does it stupidly and makes a very stupid mistake in a way that makes you say, "NVM, I will do it."
She's 19, doesn't contribute to any house chores, and can't cook. If I am hungry and she is too and I cook something, I am obligated to feed her as well. If I am tired to the verge of tears and my parents need help, I have to go always because her dumbass SIMPLY does not know how to.
If I complain to my parents, they always take her side. I've complained at least 5 times with tears of frustration in my eyes, and my parents always say, "It's not like that. YK, she helps too."
Help in what? TEXTING WITH HER BF? Her excuse is always, "My head hurts," "My back hurts," "I am tired," or "I feel sick/dizzy." ALWAYS FOR YEARS.
A few days ago, my maternal grandparents visited. I got home from school at around 6-7 PM. My mom and grandma went out to one of my nan's relatives. And, my mum told me to prepare dinner (like chop the veggies, make the rice and stuff.) I had just gotten home and hadn't eaten anything; my sister was home all day because she was sick. (I HAD A FUCKING COLD TOO.) Yet, I did everything. I even helped cook, serve, and even bought ice cream with my father and later helped clean the kitchen. My sister did absolutely nothing but kept on mocking me, saying stuff and acting like I didn't know anything in the world. I've given up on complaining to my parents because they ALWAYS take her side and never yell at her. Yet, I am always yelled at. Even when it's not my fault or simply a misunderstanding.
If someone is visiting or we are visiting someone. She always says embarrassing things about me. ALWAYS. Despite knowing I have severe anxiety. She knows how much I overthink and how much such shit hurts me a lot, yet she always does things to embarrass me in public.
I AM SO TIRED OF HER BEHAVIOR. I've really started to hate her. I feel like hitting her so bad. But I know she will never improve or apologize. I hate her. And I don't think it's a phase.
