I did it! So far so good. I figured I could do the upcoming surgery folks a solid and share my experience. Here are my take aways:

1. My surgery went well. I had fibroids pushing on my bladder, my sigmoid colon, and my rectum causing a lot of pressure. I also had a hernia surgery a few months back because of it.
2. I did great after surgery and was up and walking 1.5 hours post op for a full hysterectomy and however you spell that procedure to remove my ovaries.
3. The gas pain is real. Holy moly! They blew me up like a parade float. I shuffle around the house a lot.
4. Went to the bathroom on all counts day one post op which seems to be from what I’ve read pretty amazing
5. I cried some when I saw my belly button. I know it will heal but I’m so bloated and messy it just kinda overwhelmed me.
6. I gave an amazing husband and a fur nurse (I do therapy work with him) to take care of if me. Neither the dog or the husband have left my side. Picture shows he has honed in on the perfect spot.
7. Bone broth is amazing and I’m very glad I stockpiled it. Apple sauce tastes great as well.
8. I have used heating pads religiously and they help. I also have an ice pack hat sort of thing I use when I get stressed that really helps my anxiety. Also a winner for migraines if you have those. 
9. I mainly drink gatorade but even though they say the carbonated stuff isn’t good, I found ginger ale to be delicious in my upset belly. I also have this delicious intestine relief tea I buy from The Loose Leaf here in San Diego.
10. I sleep with a reading pillow so my airways can clear. Lots of congestion coming up and a sore throat from intubation. Slightly reclined seems to be the sweet spot. I just roll sideways and use my legs to get up. I am glad my legs are strong. If you’re a ways out, just know that squats are your friend.

I think that’s about it. Now to give myself the grace and time to heal. This group has really helped, me so I just wanted to pay that forward.
