Had a rough day and ended up sending this to my ex at 3 in the morning. Got clowned so hard 🤡.

Hey,

I know this message might feel a little out of the blue after all these years, and honestly, it took a bit of courage to text you after so long. But I guess some things just stay in the back of your mind until you finally decide to say them.

I’ve been thinking back to those school days lately, and I’ve realized how clueless I was back then. When we broke up, I thought stepping away completely was the right thing to do, but now I can see it was just me being too immature to appreciate what we had—even as friends.

You even tried to keep things normal, and I pushed that away without a second thought. Looking back, that was one of the dumbest things I could’ve done. A friendship wouldn’t have hurt, it would’ve actually meant a lot.

You always had this way of saying things that made me stop and think. Even when I didn’t take it well, I can see now that you were often right. You made me reflect, sometimes without even realizing it, and that’s something I genuinely value when I think about it now.

College has a way of teaching you how much people matter. I’ve learned that having someone you can talk to without judgment someone who just gets it is rare. And when I think about that, I can’t help but think of you.

If this feels random or awkward, I completely understand. There’s no pressure at all. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the patience, the honesty, and for being the kind of person who made a real difference, even if I didn’t see it at the time. And if it’s not too strange, maybe we could be on normal terms again just as friends. Like two people who once shared way too many laughs and stories from that one coaching class that gave us more memories than we realized back then.

Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say. I hope you’ve been doing well and that life’s been kind to you.

Was it a mistake?
