Big warning from Turkey: Do NOT go to Özel Sağlık Hospital in İzmir total scam

I came to İzmir, Turkey for a gastric sleeve at Özel Sağlık Hospital with Dr. Ergin Arslan, and it turned into a complete scam.

They couldn’t operate because one test came back bad — fine. But they kept $2100 out of the $3500 I paid, claiming it was for “tests, transportation, and a one-day stay.”

I was there only one day, the “transportation” was just airport → hotel and hotel → clinic, and they refused to give me:

• any itemized bill • any breakdown of the charges • my own test results

The coordinators also lied about my return date being fine. When I arrived, the doctor had no idea and said I needed to stay longer.

After this experience, I do NOT recommend getting a gastric sleeve in Turkey at all. But if you do, please speak directly with the doctor beforehand and do extensive research.
