help please:( my hamster hates his cage

My hamster really hates his cage:( I did research before I got him, so I made sure to get him different substrates and enrichment the beddings deep and he has a big wheel. I spent over $200 on him including the expensive cage so i can't really afford any more care. every time I go in his cage, he tries to escape, but I can't even let him out because he bites me.

I've tried bathtub bonding and putting my scent in his cage. I give him treats all the time by hand. I've been really sad recently because I feel like I'm a bad owner. He doesn't really like me so it's not like I can take him out and play with him.

When we first got him, he would yell a lot. He doesn't yell as much now, but when I have to pick him up to put him back because he's about to fall out of his cage, he screams. I genuinely feel bad because it must suck being in a place you don't like constantly but i can't afford a new one and i'm not even sure it will make a difference.

I'm pretty much just rambling now, but any advice would be helpful maybe insight on why he's acting like this?

Oh also he escaped his old cage a few weeks ago so that might have something to do with it??
