First tome deploying and it is for a year, how does this work?

I Just joined NG after serving 12y in reserves but never deployed before. As soon as I was about to get released from RSP my unit liaison dropped a bomb that we are deploying to eastern Europe for an entire year.

The areas risk level is low but I have no idea what to expect. I am a 68W by trade going with a infantry unit and hear about opportunities to "go to schools/attend classes" and what not but can someone elaborate on that? I am curious about leave, downtime, and everything else. If anyone has personal experience I could use some insight.
