Confused by the midnight kickoff times -- what days are these matches played?

There are a number of games that kickoff at midnight eastern U.S. (-5). For instance, Australia versus "UEFA C" at midnight, which would be 9 pm local time in Vancouver where the match is being played. Does this mean the game is 9 PM Friday night? or 9 PM Saturday night?
