Iron deficient and scheduled for surgery

Has anyone had the hysterectomy while being iron deficient and symptomatic. I went to my primary last week because i have been feeling so weak and short of breath. I’m also having some pins and needles sensations in my fingers and toes. She did an iron panel. My ferritin is at 12, so right at the very low end of normal. Same with hemoglobin at 12.5. But my TIBC was super elevated at 447 and my transferrin saturation was super low at 8. Also, serum iron was at the very bottom of normal at 39. All pointing to iron deficiency on the cusp of anemia. My surgeon doesn’t seem concerned. My primary wants me to delay surgery. I feel so weak and fatigued and afraid if i go through with it my recovery will be hard. Has anyone else experienced this?
