Checking if my idea for my Pokemon fanfic is good

Hello, so I had a crackpot idea crazy late at night and I figured I’d bring it up to people because, why not? I’d love to hear feedback but basically, in my story, the main protagonists are all in a group with their own mentor.

The league is focused around team battles and cooperation with your group. We just had a tournament where one of the rivals lost in second place. Initially, I was unsure of how she’d deal with the loss, but I have the idea that maybe she would join up with the evil team.

So basically, the evil team in the region focuses on taking Pokémon and selling them to a science-based organization who then enhances them in different ways such as making them larger, more violent, or giving them abnormal abilities. One of the evil team admins is persuasive and manipulative so I was thinking that maybe he could manipulate the rival into joining? Using her fear of failure against her as the rival’s fear is that she’ll come home a failure and her family will disown her for not being enough.

As the story would go on, she would help the evil team and fight with them up until the admin gets her to agree to send one of her Pokémon (either her starter Snivy or her innocent Charcadet, I’m unsure which is narratively better) to their facilities, where it is corrupted and turned into a Shadow Pokémon. The rival wouldn’t see a problem with this at first, up until she realizes her Pokémon can no longer show the same emotion it once did, and this would cause her to break down.

Later on, I intend to have her repent and break free of the manipulation she experienced and for her to be her own person instead of doing everything for the sake of others.

TLDR; The idea is that the rival character joins the evil team and later regrets it and repents.
