🇹🇷 Seafarer → 🇦🇺 Australia: Is my migration plan realistic?”

Hello, I’m currently working as a deck officer/captain on commercial vessels in Türkiye. My income is good, and with the savings I’ve built over the years, I’m planning to go to Australia for a 6-month English language course.

If I feel satisfied with the lifestyle and opportunities there, I would continue with a VET program in a trade that has PR potential—such as carpentry, automotive mechanic, or painting—so that I can eventually secure sponsorship. I know it sounds simple when explained, but I’m fully aware that it’s a long and challenging process.

At the same time, Australian student visas allow part-time work, which means I won’t have to burn through my savings. With the financial cushion I already have, I could even buy a car and do Uber Eats if necessary. From what I understand, as a student I can legally stay for around 4–5 years while studying.

However, if I’m unable to obtain sponsorship—or ideally a partner visa—after completing my studies, I would have no choice but to return home. What are your thoughts on my plan?
