Stop or Continue Microneedling Sessions?
I got microneedling done on 11/25 and everything was going fine until I applied sunscreen on day 3 (btw- it was Elta MD UV Skin recovery sunscreen, which is made for post procedure skin, but I had a bad reaction to it and I've read multiple reviews since of similar experiences as mine, so want to put out a PSA about that). By day 5 I had a horrible rash all over my face/neck/chest/ears- basically everywhere I applied the sunscreen- I only got microneedled on my face/chest only. I was swearing off microneedling, but after a steroid prescription (I only used it for 4-5 days) and using antihistamines, my skin has recovered. It's now 11 days since my first session. My skin is pretty dry, due to healing from the rash- but my skin is smooth again and the rash is gone. I'm only using Vanicream cleanser, Prequel Multi-Quench, Vegreen Cica Serum, and Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer and my skin is responding well. Initially, I planned to cancel my second and third microneedling sessions in my series, but now I'm considering keeping them. If I did this, I would wait a lot longer to use sunscreen (obviously avoiding outdoors)-and use a different sunscreen, because I'm about 99% sure that was the culprit. People who have experience with microneedling or had a reaction and then had a successful treatment- what are your thoughts on continuing my upcoming treatments?
