Potential Fetal Abduction
I feel the need to do something but I fear my options are limited because nothing actually happened. I (31F) responded to a fb marketplace listing for a bunch of baby girl clothes in the size newborn. I work with a local charity and one of our current families in need is expecting a baby girl. So I arranged for a pick up. I always insist that we meet at a local Walgreens or CVS when I do Facebook marketplace transactions. I messaged the seller that I had arrived at our agreed location. She messaged back that the day had gotten away from her and would I mind coming to her house. Usually this is an absolute no, but for whatever reason, I agreed. When I pulled up, she was standing in front of her house. She looked off. She was kind of shuffling and shaking her hands. She was also hugely pregnant. So I’m wondering why she’s selling all these clothes that she would presumably need. When I walked around the car, she seemed shocked for a moment. I asked her if she was okay and she said “I’m just surprised. I thought you were pregnant your profile picture.” My current profile picture is me at my baby shower. I laughed and said “yeah old picture. The clothes are for a friend.” She seemed really disconcerted and just apologized for having me drive out and said she mistakenly gave the batch of clothes to the wrong person and didn’t have them anymore. Every alarm bell in my true crime soaked brain is going off. What actions can I take? I couldn’t live with myself if I end up seeing some poor woman on the news who had a baby cut out of her. It’s just got all the classic signs of a fetal abduction. Like ridiculously so.
