Resolution Conundrum - Help Appreciated
Hello!
I recently moved in to a new place and my setup changed a little bit, meaning that I got a dock and I play a little more with the deck on my TV. However, I can't seem to figure out the best setup for that and googling is not giving me clear answers.
I have a 4k60 TV, which is the one my steam deck is plugged. Every time I hook it up I change the steam resolution to 1080. So far I was playing some games, like Star Ocean Remake, Cult of the Lamb or Stardew Valley at 1080. The TV adjusts the resolution from there. That said, sometimes I also use native FSR to upscale games that seems like I'm having a hard time running, like Plucky Squire. In summary, I'm all over the place and don't fully understand the best setup for this TV. It feels like if I put the deck at 4k, it would strain it too much.
I also stream from my computer games at 1440. Which is a whole other conversation. Using Apollo+Moonlight, you have at least 3 places to adjust resolution before you even open the game to change the in-game settings.
To run games locally on the deck:
1 - What resolution should I use, based on my TV?
2 - Should I open the game on the same resolution?
3 - Should I change any in-game settings if the game runs well?
But if I decide to stream at 1440p...
1 - Should I choose a different steam resolution?
2 - Should leave DEFAULT on opening moonlight?
3 - Inside moonlight settings I set my resolution to 1440p@90. Is that the best config?
Any tips or online resources are appreciated.
TLDR; Trying to nail down Steam Deck settings to play docked on a 4k60 tv. Confused on best resolution settings playing locally run games and streaming from computer using Apollo+Monnlight.
