Friend expect blind loyalty from me

My friend recently got into a relationship after being single for many years. After about a month of dating, he and his boyfriend flew out to visit me for a week. We went on vacation, hung out a lot, and overall had a great time. Naturally, I also became friends with the guy he was dating because he was genuinely a nice person.

The relationship itself only lasted two months. After they broke up, my friend told me to block him. When I asked why they broke up, he wouldn't tell me. my friend said that the fact I even had to ask “why” means I don't trust him. Eventually he did, but he is hurt that I had to ask why.

This is someone he brought into my life someone I got to know and genuinely liked as a friend and now I’m supposed to block him because he didn’t reply to my friend for a day. Obviously I’m still going to block him because at the end of the day, my friend is my best friend.

While they were here, I was truly happy to see my friend happy, and I tried to make his boyfriend feel welcomed in our group. I did make jokes at my friend’s expense sometimes like calling him “problematic” and he said it made him feel like I was blaming him or making him look like he was doing something wrong. I understand that was insensitive of me, and I do feel bad about that part.

I just don’t know if I’m wrong for asking “why” before blocking his ex. I don’t feel like I was, but maybe I’m missing something.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
