bird loss streak

ive started to watch season one and i cant help but notice that bird is just, bad, like in all honesty, the only reason he's there still is because of the other two, and i'd thought he'd get better after loosing to the AI girl but no, he goes an looses again, to someone with less practice with his own beyblade, the way the show treats this guy is ridiculous, and heck even himself seems like he learns absolutely nothing through his battles, all those note taking scenes and stuff for absolutely nothing because there is nothing in return
