I’m a Huge Bumrah & MI Fan… But I Think Mitchell Starc Might Actually Be Better
Okay, hear me out before you grab the pitchforks 😅 I’ve been a Jasprit Bumrah loyalist for years …. as a Mumbai Indians fan, that man is practically religion to me. His accuracy, his temperament, his ability to turn a match around with a single over… absolute magic.
But lately, watching Mitchell Starc again in full flow, I can’t deny something I’ve been low-key feeling for a while: Starc might actually be better.
Here’s why I think so….. Left-arm angle + raw pace (Love that classic left hand bowling action) It’s one thing to bowl 145–150 km/h, it’s another to do it from that angle and still swing the ball both ways. Starc at his best feels almost unfair.
Big-game monster — World Cups, knockouts, pressure moments… Starc has this switch where he becomes a completely different beast. When he’s on, he decides matches, not just influences them.
New-ball threat + death-over threat — That’s a rare combination. Bumrah is easily the greatest death bowler of our generation, but Starc can destroy a top order and come back later with equal menace.
Insane wicket-taking ability…. Bumrah is all control and precision, Starc is pure devastation. You can literally see batters getting uncomfortable.
This isn’t me putting Bumrah down — he’s still my favourite bowler, and he’s as elite as it gets. But if someone asked me which bowler terrifies batters more at peak form… I think I’d have to say Starc. (Recent performance in Ashes 🙌🏻)
Curious what others think: Is Starc actually the more complete / more dangerous bowler, or am I just biased by recent performances?
